Call for Abstracts - CHED CODs in Civil Eng'g and Non-CODs

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS FOR CHED’s CENTERS OF DEVELOPMENT (COD)

In connection with the International Conference on Civil Engineering Education (ICCEE2012) hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering, De La Salle University-Manilato be held in Manila on November 9-10, 2012, we are inviting CHED’s CODs in Civil Engineering listed below to submit an abstract and present a paper on the theme, “Addressing Global Challenges in CE Education" and apply for CHED funding.

De La Salle University, Manila to host the International Conference on Civil Engineering Education (ICCEE2012)


To produce globally competitive and socially responsible civil engineers is a major challenge to civil engineering (CE) schools all over the world. CE educators are now challenged to address issues such as the  global mobility of professional civil engineers, outcomes-based education as a framework in the accreditation of schools, the use of new and advanced technology in the teaching and learning process in the university and the impact of collaboration and networking with international institutions and professional organizations.

The Department of Civil Engineering, De La Salle University-Manila will host the  ICCEE2012 – International Conference on Civil Engineering Education Conference 2012 with the theme “Addressing Global Challenges in Civil Engineering Education” on November 9-10, 2012.  This international conference will serve as a forum for CE educators, researchers, practitioners, school administrators and students  to exchange information, to share lessons and to discuss strategies on how civil engineering education can be improved to produce globally competitive and socially responsible professional civil engineers.


OBJECTIVES:
  1. To serve as a forum among CE educators, students, administrators, professional engineers and organizations, and the industry for the purpose of training globally competitive and socially responsible professional civil engineers.
  2. To inform and train CE educators about evolving pedagogies in engineering education specifically on outcomes-based education.
  3. To share lessons on initiatives and strategies of CE educators on innovative teaching and learning
  4. To identify various stakeholders that play a role in the improvement of CE education
  5. To showcase student outputs and products demonstrating achievement of learning outcomes

HIGHLIGHTS:
  1. KEYNOTE SESSIONS: Invited speakers to deliver plenary papers.
  2. PARALLEL SESSIONS: Presentors from academe, industry and government to present papers on the topics listed below. The abstracts and full papers will be reviewed by a panel of referees.

  1. YOUNG INSTRUCTORS WORKSHOP: A seminar/workshop on OBE for young CE instructors (age < 35 yrs) to be invited and selected from among CE schools in the Philippines to attend the workshop. A selection criteria will be specified. The topics for the workshop include OBE concepts, syllabus writing and assessment. Certificate of Completion will be issued.
  2. STUDENT RESEARCH POSTER PRESENTATION:  Undergraduate and graduate students to present posters on their research or thesis.
  3. ICCEE 2012 AWARDS:  Select the best poster presentation among the posters submitted in the Student Research Poster Presentation.
  4. 10TH NATIONAL CE EDUCATION CONGRESS: The members and directors of the Association of CE Educators of the Philippines (ACEEP) will hold a membership meeting and congress to strengthen the organization.
  5. EXHIBITS: Companies (Books, Lab Equipment, Computers, etc.) will be invited to exhibit their products.
CALL FOR PAPERS:
Participants who wish to present a paper in accordance with the theme and topics of the conference are invited to submit an abstract (maximum of 300 words) as a word document on or before July 31, 2012. CALL FOR STUDENT POSTERS:
There will be a poster competition for researches conducted by undergraduate and graduate students. Cash awards and certificates will be given to outstanding posters. Students are invited to submit an abstract (maximum of 300 words) as a word document on or before July 31, 2012. Indicate the name of the presenting author, affiliation and email address.
